NOTICE WAS GIVEN that the Local School Council has scheduled a regular meeting on Wednesday February 10, 2016 to begin at 8:15 AM at Farnsworth School, 5414 North Linder Avenue, in Chicago, Illinois.

VI. Reports
A. Chairperson

-Module 5th hardcopy was distributed and a brief overview of the process was provided

-LSC Election packets are due March 4th

-Question was raised regarding how to get more information about the high school preparation process-A tentative date is set for an information session in the Spring

-Additional question was raised about online access to math materials (via Pearson)-Mrs. Oken will follow up with teachers accordingly.

B. Student Council Report
-Megan and Emma Gallian reported on behalf of the Council.

-Quality backdrive was a huge success, over 70 packs created.

-Valentine’s Day carnation sales hit over 700 this year. After costs are paid, the council hopes to profit close to $300.

-Looking forward, the council would like develop a fundraiser for Flint, Michigan as well as a Spring Movie Night was students.

C. Principal
Budget/Spending Approval

-Teachers participated in a professional development workshop this past Friday on Restorative Conversation. Feedback was very positive.

-NWEA Testing complete for MOY. Access testing continues till the 25th of February.

-Officer Holt

-Game Night was a huge success, close to a 100 students came! Looking forward, new games will be needed.

-Reading/Math Night scheduled for March 2nd (Read Across America)

-Staff was updated regarding Emergency Policies and Procedures-specific to new CO detectors installed in the building.


-As it stands, Farnsworth will face an SBB Reduction of $214 per student, however we were supplemented additional Title 1 Discretionary money and SGSA-coming to a total loss of $83, 851 for SY 2015-2016.

-No positions will be lost at Farnsworth, as money was set aside for this impending scenario.

-A motion was made Jim Oehler, and seconded by Christina Hatley, to make available funds to cover the budget reduction of $83, 851 being implemented by CPS as of February 16th. The motion passes unanimously, with one abstention with Jim Oehler.

-A motion was made by Roseanne Stansbury-Nelson, and seconded by Christina Hatley to pay Chess Ed $1041, taking $900 from the Chess account line (student fees), and $140 from the Box Tops account. The motion passes unanimously, with one abstention from Jim Oehler.

-A motion was made by Christina Hatley, and seconded by Becky Bush, to move $2500 from the Student Fee Internal Account, to a 214 Supply line. The motion passes unanimously, with one abstention from Jim Oehler.

-Daddy Daughter Dance this Friday (2/12) 
-Book Fair being planned for 3rd quarter 
-Legopalooza April 1st
