NOTICE IS GIVEN that the Local School Council met on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at 5:00PM with a Closed Session (No Public allowed in closed session) Followed by a regularly scheduled 6pm meeting at Farnsworth School, 5414 North Linder Avenue, in Chicago, Illinois. 


I. Call to Order @ 5:08 pm

IV. Vote to Approve Minutes

Motion was made by Melanie Moorhouse to move into closed session for purposes of principal evaluation at 5:12.
-Motion was seconded by Kathleen O’Donnell.

V. Principal Evaluation
A. Conduct Principal Performance Evaluation (CLOSED session)

Motion was made by Jim Oehler to move back into open session at 6:03 pm for regularly scheduled meeting
-Motion was seconded by Christina Hatley

Motion was made Roseanne Stansbury-Nelson at 7:30 pm to move back into
closed - session to resume Principal Evaluation.
- The motion was seconded by George Wilson

B. Vote on Principal Evaluation (OPEN session)

Motion was made to go back into open session at 8:13 by George Wilson and seconded by Christina Hatley.

Motion was made Melanie Moorhouse to approve Principal Evaluation as conducted in closed session and with roll call vote in Open Session with an Exceeds Rating. Aryn Fletcher seconded the motion.

A Roll Call vote was made with no abstentions:

VI. Public Comment
Please note: Public comment is limited to 2 minutes and you must sign in prior to the start of the meeting.

VII. Reports
A. Chairperson Report
-Congratulations to 7th/8th Battle of the Books program for qualifying (top 30 of 185 competing teams) for City Wide competition

B. Principal Report
-Q3 Benchmarks have been distributed to students
-ILT completed data review of Winter MAPS evaluation and concluded with the need for a New Learning Cycle focused on Vocabulary.
-New Criteria regarding CIWP criterion:
-CCSS Literacy, CCSS Math, Science, EL, Diverse Learners, and Attendance Rate
-Meeting with Network supervisors to discuss current district and network initiatives is April 25th.
-Sports have moved onto the Spring Session (Softball & Track)
-The chess team has come back as BIG winners from their last tournament, with several students earning 2nd. 7th, and 9th place recognitions.
-Young Rembrandts just concluded, Art Club with Ms. Carron is still in full swing and going well!
-Monthly Mustang continues to be issued monthly, the April edition was just released today.
-Champions was present at Q3 Report Card Pick-up, but was unable to sign any parents up due to new changes to the CPS contractual language.
-CELA training continues, as does Principal Mentorship

-Wrapped up Book Fair, it was very successful. A significant amount of money and books were donated to each classroom and school library.
-There are no scheduled events for April
-8th grade Dance Program as sponsored by the PTA concluded with yesterday’s performance.
-Next meeting is April 22nd @ 6pm

-Spring Flowers

E. Committees:
BAC-C. Silva has reached out to K. Shelke to get information regarding previous parents on the committee
PPLC-Nothing to report
CIWP-LRE-Report distributed

VIII. New Business
A. Certification of LSC Election Results from April 7, 2014

-A motion was made by Jim Oehler to certify LSC elections results of the April 7th 2014, seconded by Christina Hatley. Election Results are as follows:

A. Student Body Rep to Report to LSC
-Student Council Representative will attend May 7th meeting

-To be distributed tomorrow

C. Support for Hitch Community
-Letter/Card has been drafted by the Student Council and will be sent to school pending “insert”.
