NOTICE IS GIVEN that the Local School Council has scheduled a regular meeting on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, to begin at 8:15 a.m. at Farnsworth School, 5414 North Linder Avenue, in Chicago, Illinois.

VI. Reports
A. Chairperson Report
-Thank you to all teachers! We appreciate you not only this week, but always.
-Way to go Battle of the Books team who represented Farnsworth with the utmost class at the City competition this past Saturday!

B. Student Council Report
-MAPS testing (pass until June)

C. Principal Report
-ILT has been working for the past few months on the Technology Scope and sequence. The ILT has approved the plan and now teachers will have the opportunity to approve.
-CIWP has been drafted, Meeting with the Network May 14th
-Discussion of attendance procedures, policies, and incentives. Possibilities include out of dress codes themed days, “Mustang Money”, and raffles.
-In regards to English Learners, administration acknowledges the need for a more thoroughly developed program and has been working diligently to fill open positions. There are a lot of changes happening at a district level as well, including the unfunded mandate that a specific number of teachers be ELL endorsed at each grade level band.
-Currently nominating EL teacher leads for OLCE
-Pre-K-2nd 2 teachers
-3-5 1 teacher
-6-8 1 teacher
-Sports teams are continuing and on-going (Softball, Coed Track and Field)
-Young Rembrandts is in their 4th week of cartooning workshop
-Algebra exit exam is scheduled and the program will continue next year
-Art Night-May 21st
-Principal OKen has finished her CELA training as of May 3rd
-Six additional summer sessions to be held over the summer
-Four Saturday sessions to be scheduled next school year

Budget / Spending Approval
-Special meeting to be set for approval of the CIWP and Budget
-May 16th @ 8:15am

-Current PTA Board is stepping down and are looking for new representatives
-Teacher Appreciation Luncheon was yesterday and staff was VERY appreciative of the generosity of our Farnsworth Family.
-Upcoming Events:
-Upper Grade Dance May 30th
-Graduation Luncheon June 2nd
-Graduation Reception June 3rd
-Volunteer Breakfast TBD

E. Farnsworth School, Campus and Park Foundation
-Meeting was held this past week, and looking to schedule an Annual Meeting with members in the coming weeks
-Spring Flower Fundraiser was able to raise and contribute about $500 towards the funding of the Chess Team.
-Campus & Park Foundation recognizes the need for an increased need for member interest and push. Overall, the Foundation’s “presence” is low.

F. Committees
BAC- May 21st (before Art Night)
PPLC- Members voted on Flex Schedule days

A. After Care program Update
-Contract for After Care is still in legal-response needed by May 12th in order for Champions to feasibly begin by the 2014-2015 school year.

B. Preliminary Communication Survey Results
- Communication survey results are in; overall trends indicate:
- That there is an equal distribution of parents who requested paper vs. email communications.
-Concern over Sports programs & Activities for all ages
-Many parents unsure about the function, purpose, etc. of the LSC, PTA, Campus Park Foundation.
-As a result a goal has been put in the CIWP to increase electronic push notifications.
