NOTICE WAS GIVEN that the Local School Council held a scheduled meeting on Wednesday,
October 9, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. at Farnsworth School, 5414 North Linder Avenue, in Chicago, Illinois.

6. Reports
A. Chairperson
-Next week, State Representative Mart Wick will be hosting an educational advisory meeting on October 15th @6pm

-Additionally, the Chairperson attended a PTA Advisory committee meeting today and is happy to report that Farnsworth is once ahead of the game and felt very proud to be at that meeting as a parent representative. 
-NAC (Neighborhood Action Committee): More information to follow regarding their development. Operating as a sub party of FACE they are looking to get feedback regarding the potential introduction of charter schools to solve the issue of “overcrowded” neighborhood schools.
-Bi-Annual Report (State of the School) will be postponed to the November meeting.-be advised.

B. Principal Report
-Current enrollment stands at 609 (including Pre-K and non attending).
-New Learning Cycle had been developed by the ILT which focuses on developing authentic Performance Task (Assessments).
-As a result of those conversations, Farnsworth has become a pilot school for the Literacy Benchmark assessment program. 
- A .5 bilingual teacher has been hired (Cleide Silva)
-Performance Policy rating remains a #1!!! 
-REACH Observations are in full swing and include the new Reflect & Learn system
- (3) teachers currently pursuing the ESL endorsement
-Farnsworth has achieved Creative Schools Certification
-Healthy School Certification is still pending (per State set-backs)
-Newly implemented-First Friday of the month-College Day (wear your collegiate gear, support college and career readiness)
-Footprints of the Mind-New After School program is in effect (12 students participating)
-Open House was a success!
-Monthly Mustang and School Website continue to be stable modes of communication.  The school website in particular has reached new heights and is fantastically user friendly.

-Currently working on the Monster Ball to be held for grades 6-8 next Friday, October 18th
-Monster Bash the following week, Friday October 25th
-October 14th there will be a movie fundraiser held at the Pickwick featuring “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2”
-Upcoming PTA meeting October 15th.  Special guest speaker will discuss cyber-safety.

D. Committees: 
BAC-The committee has elected their officers (still in need of a Secretary) and is compiling a calendar of future meeting dates.
PPLC- No concerns have been reported via core meetings-thus, there is no report at this time 
CIWP-LRE-Report was distributed

A. After Care program Update
-Still seeking out YMCA after care programming-waiting to hear back from the program manager.
